Air Peace has explained why its Benin to Abuja flight P47171 stayed longer in the air on Friday. The Nigerian airline said the delay happened because of bad weather. They confirmed the aircraft met turbulence and thunderstorms during descent into Abuja. Air Peace said it followed all safety rules before landing the plane safely.

Adverse Weather Caused Delay for Air Peace Flight P47171

The Head of Corporate Communications, Ejike Ndiulo, explained in a statement that the delay was due to adverse weather conditions. Thunderstorms made the descent into Abuja unsafe at the normal time. So, the Air Peace crew activated safety procedures. They kept the aircraft flying in a safe holding pattern until the weather improved enough for landing.

Many social media users complained on Saturday that the plane was “hanging” too long in the air. But Air Peace insisted that it acted according to international safety standards.

Air Peace Crew Followed Global Safety Standards

A holding pattern means the plane must fly in a circle or designated course around a fixed point. This happens when an airport cannot allow a plane to land immediately. Reasons could be traffic, bad weather, or other problems. Landing without waiting could cause an accident, so following a holding pattern is necessary for safety.

The PUNCH reports that in this situation, Air Peace was simply following air traffic instructions. The delay was a normal precaution and not due to negligence.

Passengers Landed Safely After Air Peace Flight P47171 Delay

Air Peace stressed in its statement that, “We are pleased to confirm that the aircraft landed safely and the passengers disembarked normally. Air Peace is unwavering in its commitment to ensuring the highest standards of safety across all our operations.”

Despite the delay, the passengers arrived safely, and there were no incidents. Air Peace emphasized that safety remains its top priority across all flights, including the Benin to Abuja route.

Bottom Line

Air Peace has cleared the air about the Benin to Abuja flight P47171 delay. The airline blamed bad weather and said it acted based on international safety rules. The plane eventually landed safely, and passengers disembarked without problems. Air Peace restated its strong commitment to safety on every flight.
