Antoine Semenyo, the Ghanaian international, is now officially a Manchester City player after the club reportedly paid Bournemouth £62.5 million, which is €72 million, and this is the biggest transfer sale the Cherries have ever made.

The forward, who is 26 years old, has committed himself to the Etihad Stadium for a long period of time – until June 2031 – and he will be wearing the jersey number 42. City was able to bring down the fee a little below Semenyo’s £65m release clause, and the transfer will be paid in full over 24 months. The deal also includes performance-related bonuses of up to £1.5m and a sell-on clause of 10 per cent, which could bring the total value nearly up to the original clause.

Semenyo comes after being one of the most efficient attackers in the Premier League since his transfer from Bristol City to Bournemouth in January 2023. Last season, he had a career-best season scoring 11 league goals, and he has continued to display good form this season, scoring 10 times in 21 appearances.

After the move was completed, Semenyo called City a “real privilege” and lit up with the thought of working under Pep Guardiola. City’s sporting director, Hugo Viana, has spoken highly of the player, praising his speed, strength, and potential for being developed even more.
