Nigerian skitmaker Nasiru Lawal has criticised fellow content creator and streamer Carterefe for describing skit-making as “dead” during a recent podcast appearance.
Carterefe sparked controversy on The Honest Bunch Podcast when he claimed that skit-making was declining, admitting he felt depressed until he shifted focus to streaming.
Reacting in an interview with Naija FM Lagos, Nasboi condemned his colleague’s remarks, saying it was wrong to downplay the industry that helped him gain recognition.

“Evolving is not a bad idea but talking down on the industry that made you is a crime in my books. Caterefe is my friend, we speak every time. But he is a loose talker,” Nasboi said.
He added, “You can’t say skit making is dead. People are blowing up every day with skit making. The fact that people evolved doesn’t mean that the industries they are leaving are dead.”
Nasboi’s comments emphasise that while creators may explore new avenues, skit-making continues to thrive and remains a vital platform for emerging talent.
