A middle-aged man, from Uruagu Nnewi in Nnewi North Local Government Area of Anambra State, who goes simply by the name of Mr. Peter has purportedly killed his elder brother, Mr. Godwin over the disconnection of his electricity supply for not paying the electric bill.

Godwin was said to have died after an altercation with his sibling, Peter which led to physical combat over the disconnection of the electricity supply to the deceased’s apartment which Peter had ordered some men to disconnect.

The trouble had begun when the suspect, Peter had supposedly refused to pay his monthly electricity bill of N1,500, leading to the disconnection of his energy supply, by his deceased brother. Peter then confronted his deceased brother to know why his apartment’s electricity supply was disconnected and, in the process, a heated argument ensued between the two siblings.

Peter, madly incensed by the argument rushed into his apartment, grabbed a pistol, and fatally shot his older brother, Godwin immediately.

After gunning down his brother, the suspect fled the crime scene, ran to a Police station that was close by, and surrendered himself. This was due to the fear of the mob in his community who had gotten wind of the murder.

Previously before this unfortunate incident, the two siblings had been feuding over a land dispute, with Peter making death threats to his deceased brother, but it had not been taken seriously.

The Anambra State Police Command Mr. Ikenga Tochukwu has confirmed the incident, adding that the suspect had been arrested contrary to the claims that he had willingly surrendered himself to the police in Nnewi.
