Erik Ten Hag, Manchester United manager has disclosed the reason he replace Anthony with Marcus Rashford at halftime in the Europa League match against FC Sheriff.
Manchester United thrashed Sheriff 3-0 to make it to the knockout stages of the League.
Many people thought that the reason he substituted Anthony in the match was because of the showoff he displayed on the pitch, as he performed his trademark style without scoring, but Ten Hag has revealed that the reason he substituted Anthony was that he wanted to see Ronaldo play alongside Marcus Rashford.
He also praised Manchester United youth team player, Gerancho for playing very well on the left side
“It was more or less planned. If we were [winning], I wanted to see Cristiano Ronaldo and Marcus Rashford close together, that was one of the reasons.
“Also to bring another dynamic over to the right side.
“I thought over the left side Alejandro Garnacho was playing quite well and he had a real threat in his actions, really good tempo dribbles, so that was good to see. So it [Antony’s withdrawal] was more or less planned,” Ten Hag told BT Sport.
Many fans have clamored that Ten Hag should include Gerancho in some of United’s matches considering his wonderful Performance in their game against Sheriff Tiraspol on Thursday night. Ronaldo who just returned from suspension scored a goal in the match, Manchester United fans are earnestly hoping that United will win the Europa League since they couldn’t qualify for the Champions League.
