Does Yvonne Nelson’s Revelation of Sexual Escapades with Sarkodie Confirm that Female Actors are Immoral?

Ghanaian actress Yvonne Nelson recently unveiled her new book, “I am not Yvonne Nelson,” during a book launch event at the Peduase Lodge in Ghana on June 19th, 2023. The gathering was attended by esteemed dignitaries and A-list actors from the Ghanaian film industry. Within the pages of her book, specifically pages 88-95, Yvonne shared a decision she made in 2020 that she deeply regrets.

In this section, Yvonne revealed that she had entered into a casual relationship with Ghanaian rapper Sarkodie and subsequently discovered her pregnancy after taking a test with a friend. She reached out to the father of the child, but he requested that she terminate the pregnancy. Yvonne explained that she complied with his wishes because she didn’t want to bring a fatherless child into the world, as she had grown up without a father herself. However, given the chance to revisit her decision, she expressed that she would not have chosen to have an abortion.

Narrating the incident on pages 88-95 of chapter eight of her new book, Yvonne wrote, “I had gone for a pregnancy test to confirm what becomes the most obvious conclusion for a sexually active young woman who misses her monthly flow. I was in the company of Karen. And when the test result was ready, I wasn’t strong enough to open it. She did and declared the verdict. ‘Charlie, it dey there!’, she exclaimed.

Yvonne also shared that at the time, Sarkodie was an up-and-coming artist living with his mother. She understood his perspective, and their connection had initially been fueled by her passion for music. Unfortunately, their relationship resulted in an unexpected pregnancy.

“I wasn’t the only one responsible for the situation, so I called the man whose potent seed had germinated in me. His name is Michael Owusu Addo, a renowned Ghanaian musician who is better known as Sarkodie”

Writing on their relationship, Nelson added, “I wouldn’t call what had developed between us a serious relationship. I gravitated toward people in the music industry.”

Does This Confirm That Female Actors are Immoral?

It is important to note that Yvonne’s personal experiences should not be generalized to imply that all female actors are immoral. Criticism has been directed at her for dating a man who still lived with his mother and was seen as a “playboy.” However, it is crucial to remember that Yvonne Nelson, like all other female actors, is a human being who has the right to make mistakes. Their profession does not make them infallible; even superheroes make errors.

Yvonne Nelson should be commended for her courage in sharing this information with the public. The key takeaway here is that she has acknowledged her mistake and regrets it.

Now, let’s consider these hypothetical questions: If you were in Yvonne’s situation, what would you have done? And if you were in Sarkodie’s position, would you have accepted or rejected the pregnancy?
