Remember this article where I highlighted the likely beauty trends for the second quarter? Seems that they have quickly taken off and where better to launch it than at the Coachella Festival?
The music festival has evolved from being mostly about music and its performers to a fashion stomping ground.
At the Coachella Festival held at the Empire Polo Club in Indio, California, you get to channel your quirky, cool or eccentric fashion side. The side that you’re not normally free to show at your 9-5 job or at school and the beauty part of fashion was not left out. This year, I saw beauty trends ranging from flowery eye makeup, face gems, neon eyeliner, bright, translucent eyeshadows to colourful, over-the-top lashes.
Below, is a comprehensive glimpse into the trendiest Coachella outfits that I am obsessed with this year:
1. The Lana Del Rey Inspiration:
This popular singer had headlined the festival so its no surprise that she had inspired her fans to glam the way she does.
Some Lana Del Rey inspiration sported at the Festival included: coquette dresses, corset dress, simple tulle dress, bow jewelry, hairstyles with a bow, braid with bow and bow-inspired and ballet-core nails.
2. Fairy-inspired Outfits (Fairy-core):
A.k.a ‘she was a fairy’. If you’ve heard this sound on Instagram or TikTok, then chances are that you understand what fairy-core is all about. This fashion trend has been on the rise and it’s no surprise that the Gen-Z festival goers were seen rocking it.
The fairy-core trend sighted at Coachella include: fairy-inspired glam, sequin fringe dress, bell sleeves, Fulani boho braids, midi lace skirt and fairy-inspired/cottage-core nails.
3. 2014-core:
This trend did not surprise me one bit as I’ve been seeing a resurgence of the 2014 vibe all over my FYP in recent months.
There is undoubtedly a nostalgia for the year, especially now that it has been a decade.
At the 2024 Coachella, the fashionistas brought back some of the unique festival looks seen in 2014 with new twists like new crochet designs, lacey flared pants along with accessories like nose rings, statement belts and rave makeup ideas festivals.
4. Y2K vibes:
Belts over micro shorts and miniskirts were the order of the day at the music festival, even in some case where it was not necessary.
Some of the Y2K trends spotted included: slip skits, fabric shorts, short, statement belts and denim skirts.
