SAFA complaint under review- FIFA

Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) has confirmed that its panel are now reviewing the formal complaint by South Africa to replay their final Group G World Cup qualifier 1-0 defeat to Ghana on Sunday.

A confirmation statement was released by the South African FA President Tebogo Motlan that a “formal complaint” was submitted to the football governing body after match at the Cape Coast Sports Stadium.

Motlan said the penalty kick awarded to Ghana didn’t look legit from where he was seated and he respect the team and the coaching staffs for their fighting spirit even after the poor officiating.

The referee, Maguette Ndiaye, awarded the Black stars of Ghana a controversial penalty after Daniel Amartey was deemed to have been fouled in the box.

This decision by the referee has been heavily criticised by Sport analysts including former referee Ace Ncobo, who said that a shocking 89.3% of the referee’s decisions were wrong and most of the decisions were against Bafana Bafana.

In a statement released by FIFA, it says that “the governing body have received a complaint from the South African FA in connection to their last match against Ghana and it’s under review”

If the match should be replayed, it would be the second time for the Bafana Bafanas after they were forced to replay one of their World cup qualifiers game in 2018 against Senegal after the referee was adjudged to have manipulated the match.
