Ever wish you could “turn back the clock” and regain a youthful look? While we can’t literally rewind time, blepharoplasty offers a way to turn back the visual effects of aging on your eyelids. This cosmetic procedure involves removing or repositioning excess skin and fat, in order to help you look more awake and rejuvenated. Most people opt for blepharoplasty to give their eyes a fresh, youthful appearance and enhance their overall look.

The blepharoplasty procedure is pretty straightforward. The surgeon either makes an incision in your upper or lower eyelids, removes some skin and fat or moves the fat around to make the eyes look less saggy or puffy. Post care treatment is just as important as the procedure itself, in order to achieve a great result. In this article we’re going to look at the postoperative care, recovery time, complications and cost of a blepharoplasty surgery.

Postoperative Care

The first thing that patients are concerned about is the after surgery pain. After the surgery you’ll feel sore, which is a given. The doctor will give you pain medications to help you manage the pain. The eyes area will look swollen and bruised, again, this is completely normal. You can use cold packs as recommended by the doctor, and keep your head elevated.

Furthermore, you need to be gentle with your eyes. Avoid rubbing them and stick to the cleaning and moisturizing routine the doctor gives you. You might also need an eye drop to keep your eyes lubricated. Lastly, don’t skip your follow-up appointments. Your surgeon will check how you’re healing and recommend any additional tips to help you heal faster.

What is The Recovery Time For Blepharoplasty Surgery?

In the first few days, expect swelling and bruising, but they should start to improve pretty quickly. Most people see a lot of progress within a week, although full healing can take a bit longer. You can usually get back to light activities after a week or two. However, steer clear of heavy workouts or anything that could strain your eyes for a few weeks. Your doctor will tell you when it’s okay to return to all your regular activities.

Are There Any Complications of Blepharoplasty Surgery?

Typically, blepharoplasty is safe but there could be possible risks and complications. Like any surgery, there are some risks involved. You might get an infection, bleeding in the eyelid areas, or an allergic reaction to the anesthesia.

On the other hand some complications could be trouble closing your eyes completely, uneven results, or visible scars. In rare cases, you might experience changes in your vision. But of course all of these can be avoided if you follow your surgeon’s care instructions.

Cost of Blepharoplasty

If you’re thinking about blepharoplasty, it’s good to know what to expect with the cost. The price can vary a bit depending on the type of blepharoplasty you’ll be getting. Working with Tina Ho MD Facial Plastic Surgery‘s pricing, it states that “the cost of blepharoplasty surgery ranges between $6,000 to $13,000, depending on the procedure.”

They went further to talk about the different pricing of each of the types of blepharoplasty. “The average cost range for upper eyelid surgery is $5,000 to $7,000, including facility and anesthesia fees. On the other hand, the average range for lower eyelid surgery is $9,000 to $13,000, including facility and anesthesia fees.

The average cost range for Asian Blepharoplasty (double eyelid surgery) is $6,000 to $8,000, including facility and anesthesia fees.” However, this is just an insight into how much the procedure will cost. The prices could also vary depending on your living area and the clinic. Some clinics are more expensive than others. So it’s all up to you to do further research on pricing in your area.

Bottom Line

Ever wish you could look more refreshed and youthful? Blepharoplasty, or eyelid surgery, might be your answer. It’s a procedure where excess skin and fat are removed or repositioned from your eyelids, making you look more awake and rejuvenated.

After the surgery, you’ll need to manage some pain, swelling, and bruising, but following your doctors care plan will help. Complications are rare but can include infection or changes in vision. As for the cost, it can range from $6,000 to $13,000 depending on what you need and where you go. It’s a good idea to research and compare prices in your area.
