Clinics have started closing in certain US states after a Supreme Court ruling on 24th June 2022 canceled American women’s lawful right to abort babies. Almost half of the states in the United States are expected to launch the latest restrictions after the court went back on the 50-year-old Roe v Wade court decision.
So far, 13 states have triggered laws instated that will be banning abortion within 30 days. U.S President Joe Biden has already defined the ruling as a grave error.
At an abortion clinic situated in Little Rock, Arkansas, a state with what is called a trigger law permitting an immediate ban, the doors to the patient area in the clinic were closed immediately after the supreme court’s verdict was posted online. Workers made calls to tell women that their scheduled appointments were terminated.
A nurse has been reported telling news officials that receiving bad news, no matter how hard one has prepared for it, is always a shocking blow. She additionally said having to tell patients waiting to have an abortion that they could no longer have one was heart-rendering. Escorts seen at the clinic, who stood under the Arkansas heat, day after day to accompany patients through the crowd of protesters, held a group hug after the verdict.
