With two goals in the last ten minutes, Nigeria’s Super Falcons opened their campaign at the inaugural Aisha Buhari Cup at the Mobolaji Johnson Sports Stadium (formerly Onikan Stadium) on Wednesday afternoon.

FC Robo’s Gift Monday popped up to head in Skipper Asisat Oshoala’s pull-out in the 83rd minute, and then was quickest to reach the ball and lob over the advancing Malian goalkeeper deep into time added on for a comfortable victory, although the performance was far from satisfactory for the sparse crowd at the stadium.

The Super Falcons will next face South Africa on the 21st of September, but the competition continues on Thursday, with Cameroon facing the Atlas Lioness of Morocco at the same venue. On Friday, it will be the turn of Ghana’s Black Queens to square off against South Africas Banyana Banyana, while Saturday, 18th September is Match free.
