Nollywood actress and producer Mercy Aigbe’s latest movie premiere for “Thin Line” was quite the event. From the controversial outfits seen on the red carpet to the notable stars that graced the occasion, the event was a total fanfare – not unexpected from Mercy Aigbe whom one can now call a veteran in the Nigerian Yoruba movie industry.

The premiere of “Thin Line” took place on December 11, 2024, at the prestigious Eko Hotel and Suites in Lagos. For this event, the theme: “Sin City Glam” was set, and all the attendees were encouraged to embrace bold and daring fashion choices. Some of the celebrities who made an appearance at the movie premiere made sure to follow the given theme to the tee, while the others spectacularly failed in that regard.

The Fashion Slays

1. Mercy Aigbe: It shouldn’t come as a surprise to anyone that Mercy herself led the charge in a bold, edgy outfit that set the tone for the glamorous night. The actress wore a glittery brown, skin-tight bodysuit adorned with a black, Saran-like wrap around the waist and embellished with black stars.

2. Iyabo Ojo: Known for her impeccable fashion sense, Iyabo did not disappoint her fans. She wore a custom two-piece outfit made by Mubrikluxury_ that consisted of pearly white beads and red sequins. The outfit was widely acclaimed for its uniqueness and boldness.

3. Moyo Lawal:  Moyo’s short silver dress was a crowd favorite, featuring a plunging neckline and sparkling embellishments. However, her choice of footwear—a pair of chunky black heels—sparked debate, as many felt they did not complement the elegance of her dress.

4. Uzor Arukwe: This actor starred alongside Mercy Aigbe and was one of the main characters of the movie he attended the premiere for.

Uzor’s blue velvet jacket and black trousers was well-received among the audience.

Notable Fashion Fails

– Kazim Adeoti: Mercy’s husband, Kazim Adeoti, was the subject of much criticism after he wore an outfit that many felt was underwhelming for his significant other’s event. He wore an ill-fitting satiny, burnished bronze top and black  trousers made of the same material as the top.

In conclusion, the whole fit lacked the pizzazz expected for such a glamorous occasion. No sooner had he made an appearance on the red carpet had his attire became a trending topic on social media, with some suggesting he should have opted for something more stylish and in line with the “Sin City Glam” theme.

– Phyna: While Phyna’s outfit was unique in its own way, it leaned more towards an asoebi look than a red carpet attire with a set theme.

She wore a silvery grey dress featuring exaggerated designs and grey sequins.
