If you’ve been on X (formerly Twitter) at all in recent days, then you already know about the endless rumours circling Britain’s royal family.
What Are These Rumours About?
Basically, Kate Middleton, the Princess of Wales and wife of Prince Williams has mostly gone unseen for months (not minding the blurry image of her being allegedly spotted in a car); the royal family has supposedly tried to quench suspicions about her location by sharing a photograph of Kate on social media, the said picture which ended up being a photoshopped image.
Despite Kensington Palace’s best efforts of insisting that the Princess of Wales is away from the public eye to recover from abdominal surgery, the internet (insert X users) have ran amok with the craziest conspiracy theories.
Adding fuel to the conspiracies is the fact that King Charles III who had been diagnosed of cancer in February has been spotted several times since then, making public appearances, leaving a lot of individuals to question Kate Middletons alleged ‘disappearance’.
This weekend, the conspiracies heightened and on Sunday, March 17, the hashtag: #RoyalAnnouncement started trending on X after a few unverified viral tweets about the BBC having an “announcement” regarding the royal family surfaced. The post had implied that the announcement would be dropped impromptu.
Factually, there is/are no current evidence to support claims that an announcement is in the works, but that didn’t prevent netizens from fanning the flames of controversy and suggesting the “announcement” may be of the King’s passing (Which has already been debunked by several reputable sources, including the British Embassy).
Another talking point in the hashtag is that an alleged update about Kate’s abdominal surgery or a response to the circulating rumors that William is having an affair would be revealed when the announcement drops — if it will.
Netizens are convinced that the alleged announcement from the royal family is scheduled to be released/posted on Tuesday, March 19. All everybody an do now is to wait and see if an announcement will be given.
