There is no doubt that the Anambra tourism industry is underutilised and almost un-exploited.
This ‘crises’ further worsened by a prevalent state of insecurity which the present leadership is confronting head-on, as no meaningful development occurs in a state of chaos and disruption.
The International Convention Centre, –ICC, was built by the immediate past governor of Anambra State, Willie Obiano, with the ability to host huge events and spur tourism in the state.
The Anambra State Ministry of Culture, Entertainment and Tourism had partnered with the organizers of Anambra Fashion Expo, AFE 2023 to hold a second edition of the fashion event on the 6th and 7th October.
This will be the Expo’s second year since its inception.
The event was a colourful one and a success. As the event centre was in close proximity to the federal university in the state,– Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, young ‘Gen-Zs’ had trooped in en-masse to attend the show.
Adaorah Soludo, the daughter of the present Governor of Anambra State had been in attendance and her clothing line: AORAH had been the main sponsor of the event.
Other event sponsors include: Fidelity Bank, Made in Africa, Dalch Foundation,
Awka Millenium City, Royal Foods, Healthy Living, Big Ben and Sunny Peace Industries and Cassette House among others.
On the first day of the expo, young designers, –some of them students–, had showcased their craft through beautiful, unique and one-of-a-kind fashion pieces.
Music entertainers had also serenaded the audience with their craft. All in all, it was a wholesome and very unique experience for South-Easterners.
The first expo day ended with a performance from a group of young girls dancing creatively to Halle Bailey’s “ANGEL”, The Greatest Showman’s “THE GREATEST SHOW”, and Beyoncé’s electric “MY POWER.”
