The 2023 Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, has deplored the death of an All Progressives Congress, APC, chieftain and an ex-Executive Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, Cairo Ojuogboh.
In Atiku’s social media post, he had described Ojuogboh as a loyal Nigerian whose love for the country had been steadfast.
The former NDDC Executive Director had collapsed and died while watching the AFCON match between the Nigerian Super Eagles against South Africa’s Bafana Bafana on Wednesday.
Ojuogboh had been a member of the House of Representatives (from 2003 till 2007) and a leader of the APC in Delta State.
Atiku had said that Ojuogboh’s death was a personal loss to him.
The former Cice President’s post read:
“The sudden death of my close friend, Dr. Cairo Ojougboh, deeply saddens me. His love for Nigeria had been profound.
Cairo was a shining example of patriotism; his commitment to Nigeria was resolute, and his departure is a personal loss that will undoubtedly leave a void in my heart. As we mourn him, let us remember the passion and zeal for Nigeria that defined his life. May his soul rest in perfect peace. -AA”
