Hollywood is in mourning following the sudden death of filmmaker Jeff Baena, who was married to actress Aubrey Plaza. The 47-year-old, known for Life After Beth and The Little Hours, died on Friday. The cause of death has not been revealed.
Baena and Plaza had been together for over a decade before their marriage in 2021. The two had often collaborated professionally on his movies, including the 2022 film Spin Me Around.
A graduate of the NYU film school, Baena began his career working for icons such as Robert Zemeckis and co-wrote the indie hit I Heart Huckabees. He made his directorial debut in 2014 with Life After Beth which earned him a nomination at Sundance.
He is remembered as a visionary filmmaker, and his death is quite a big blow to the industry. The family has called for privacy as his fans and colleagues pay homage to the legend.
