The president, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retired), arrived in Abuja from London, UK, where he received dental treatment last week. The Gulfstream jet carrying Buhari arrives at the Presidential Wing of Abuja’s Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport.
On April 30, Presidential aircraft carrier NAF 001 was airlifted to Boeing’s maintenance, repair, and overhaul facility in Seattle, USA, for a major maintenance visit or D test.
Over the past two weeks, the Nigerian leader has flown in other planes from the presidential fleet, including a May 3 trip where he joined other world leaders in London for the coronation ceremony of the president. King Charles III and Queen Camilla.
Although the trip was scheduled to last five days, the presidency announced that Buhari’s stay had been extended by a week for dental treatment.
Femi Adesina revealed that he “will remain in London, UK, for another week, on the advice of the dentist, who has begun his care.
So far, he has spent at least 232 days on medical trips since taking office in 2015. The president’s spokesman defended Buhari’s medical trips abroad, saying he had used the same medical team for about 40 years.
Adesina also argued that the president should retain his medical team given his medical history.
