According to Burkina Faso’s foreign minister Olivia Rouamba, an investigation has been opened into the killings of supposed Muslim pilgrims from Nigeria who were killed while taking a bus to Senegal.
Earlier, President Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.) condemned the murder of Nigerian pilgrims who were travelling to Kaolack, Senegal.
The claimed event took place as the bus was traveling through Burkina Faso.
Rouamba informed Mistura Abdulraheem, the Nigerian ambassador, that investigations are initiated to clarify the situation during their discussion.
Regarding claims that its army was behind the attack, Rouamba noted that Burkina Faso fundamentally disapproves of the accusations made against our defense and security forces.
One of the most impoverished and unstable nations in Africa in Burkina Faso.
Since jihadists from nearby Mali began an insurgency in 2015, thousands of soldiers, police officers, and civilians have died and about two million people have fled their homes.
The government cannot control more than a third of the nation, and anger within the army at the rising death toll sparked two coups last year.
