It was a heartbreaking moment for Burnley football club players and fans as they are relegated to the Championship after suffering a loss to Newcastle with a 2 – 1 scoreline.
Burney had managed to stay in the Premier League for six seasons and that stay has however come to end this season as they would not be playing in the Premier League next season.
Burnley and Leeds United were fighting to not stay in the 18th position and Leeds United managed to score a last-minute goal to secure their stay in the Premier League. Burnley would be joining Watford and Norwich in relegation.
“There’s a lot of emotion. The fans stuck with us. It’s their club and we’re gutted we couldn’t give them what they wanted. I hope they saw a group fighting for them.” Interim coach, Mike Jackson, said.
