Rapper Cardi B has taken to social media to declare support for Kamala Harris, the Democratic candidate in this year’s U.S. presidential election. She made the declaration on X, where she urged that the country needs a “Hail Mary” to tackle its challenges.
Predictably enough, the tweet soon generated a fierce backlash: Donald Trump supporters leaped into the action on behalf of Harris’s Republican opponent.
Many made sharp comments at Cardi’s personality and said their vote would go to Trump because Cardi had supported Harris. Others said some of Harris’s policies don’t align with religious values, taking a jab at Cardi’s “Hail Mary” reference.
Cardi has always been vocal about her opinions on social and political matters, and her support for Harris is just adding to an already highly contested election process. It would remain to be seen whether the endorsement by Cardi would change the course of the election or further divide the people. For now, Cardi’s statement has brought her back into the limelight as she was zealously campaigning for a leader whom she thinks can bring much needed change.
