The players of Chelsea have taken the resignation of coach Enzo Maresca quite well, with the replacement, Calum McFarlane, stating that the team is already gearing up for the important game of the Premier League, which is going to be held next Sunday against Manchester City.
Maresca’s departure from Stamford Bridge happened on Thursday, and it was a result of a disagreement with the upper management of the club; thus, his stay was cut short in a rather dramatic way. While the majority of players were vocal about their support for the Italian, McFarlane let it be known that the focus has quickly returned to matters off the field through the training grounds.

Before the journey to the Etihad, McFarlane praised the group’s attitude and professionalism. The leadership of Captain Reece James was particularly brought up, and the coach made it clear that the team’s intensity and hunger in training were a mirror of their strong desire to perform well.
McFarlane admitted that during uncertain times, discussing the future of the club is only natural, but he added that the players were kept fully informed about the situation, mainly in terms of preparation for the City match rather than long-term problems.
The temporary coach also told the supporters that he has a lot of positive things to say about the management of Chelsea in regard to their ownership. So far, his interactions with the directors and owners have been nothing but good. He has pointed out the support that the hierarchy has given them and the long-term project that the club is on, particularly the one focused on the youth development area.
The match against one of the strongest teams in the league is a tough one for Chelsea, and McFarlane encouraged his players to be one, to have faith in their skills, and to go into the match with the same spirit and togetherness as on Sunday.
