Chelsea have sacked their head coach, Liam Rosenior, after a dismal streak of five consecutive Premier League games without scoring that led to a losing streak of five games, and is a record in the club which had not been seen since 1912.
Rosenior, who was head coach since January following the sudden departure of Enzo Maresca, was in charge at Stamford Bridge for only 106 days. His arrival from sister club Strasbourg was seen as a strategic step in line with Chelsea’s multi-club model. However, the experiment was terminated early after a series of failures.
Through their official Twitter page, Chelsea announced the move. They thanked Rosenior for his professionalism, yet admitted that the results had “fallen below the necessary standards” in a critical period of the season.

Brighton’s 3-0 win on Tuesday was the final straw that ended the Blues’ chances of the Champions League seriously. Only four matches to go, Chelsea are seven points behind fifth-placed Liverpool, and if things go on like that, they will not be playing in European football at all.
Chelsea coach Calum McFarlane from the Academy has been handed interim charge for the second time this season. The 40-year-old coach has now been pushed right into the deep end, leading the team to their FA Cup semi-final against Leeds United at Wembley.
Chelsea has disclosed that it will be starting the search for a long-term football manager.
