The Dangote Petroleum Refinery is poised to commence the sale of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), also known as petrol, following a successful test-run of the product. Industry sources have confirmed that the refinery is ready to release the product into the market, with the government and the Dangote Group finalizing modalities for its circulation.
The Federal Government has indicated that only the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC) will be authorized to sell Dangote fuel initially. This development comes after the refinery had earlier periods of delays in its product rollout, mainly due to challenges in sourcing crude oil.
The Dangote Group also conveyed their appreciation to the NUPRC for facilitating an allocation consisting of 29 million barrels of crude oil for the refinery, but said it hasn’t yet received those cargo ships, emphasizing they would prefer direct purchase from local producers instead of dealers who operate from abroad countries.
