Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has brought Afrobeats star Davido into his political fold, appointing him as the head of youth mobilisation for the Accord Party campaign council ahead of the 2026 governorship election.
The singer made the announcement on his X page, where he expressed enthusiasm about the responsibility and confidence in the governor’s re-election bid.

“I have been appointed by the Governor of OSUN STATE @AAdeleke_01 and flag bearer of the ACCOD PARTY 01 as HEAD YOUTH MOBILIZATION OF CAMPAIGN COUNCIL! We look forward to a smooth campaign and you RE – election your EXCELLENCY! 4+4,” he wrote.
Davido’s growing political involvement became more evident in December when he revealed that he had officially joined the Accord Party, shortly after Governor Adeleke’s exit from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Since then, Adeleke has secured the party’s ticket for the 2026 governorship race, with his campaign now gaining momentum.
Interestingly, the appointment comes not long after Davido opened up about his reservations regarding a political career. He said, “Before, I wanted to go into politics. But now, I see it two ways.
“All my years of goodwill, my name and my career, all the hard work and the fan base we have built, it is tricky.”
