According to the results released on the INEC’s portal, the Labour Party’s (LP) candidate, Olumide Akpata, lost his polling unit to the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) Asue Ighodalo.
The results also showed that the All Progressives Congress’ (APC) Monday Okpebholo and the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) Asue Ighodalo are leading in their strongholds of Edo North and Edo South.
The results of Unit 11, Ward 6 of Oredo local government area showed that the LP received 2 votes, PDP 41, and APC 19.
So far, the results on the INEC portal reveal that the APC leads in Edo, its stronghold in Edo North, while the PDP leads in Edo South.

In Etsako West local government area, Igbira Camp Booth, APC received 90 votes, LP 13 and PDP 85, while in Owan West, Ifidon by Bright in Sobe, APC received 90, LP 13 and PDP 75.Uhunmwonde Uvbenisi-Uvbenisi Primary School received an APC score of 83, an LP score of 6, and a PDP score of 47.
In Egor local government area, Paramount Nursery and Primary School Uselu II – IV, APC had 17, while PDP had 22.
In Oredo local government area, New Benin, Unit 27, New Benin III/Payne elementary school, the APC received 36 votes, the LP 5, and the PDP 56. In Ikpoba-Okha Ward 7 Unit 17, where the PDP’s Deputy Governorship candidate, Osarodion Ogie Esq., voted, the PDP received 216 votes, while the APC received 29.
Bottom Line
The pattern of results, with the PDP leading in Edo South and the APC dominating in Edo North, shows the traditional political divides in the state.
Each party appears to be performing well in its respective strongholds, which highlights the importance of regional alliances and grassroots mobilization in Nigerian elections.
