The Ekiti State Government has identified potential investment opportunities worth more than $200 million following the Ekiti-Egypt Industrial Investment Mission held in Cairo between July 24 and 28, 2026.

The initiative was organised by Welcome2Africa International with funding from the Ekiti State Government as part of Governor Biodun Oyebanji’s efforts to attract foreign investment, create employment and boost the local processing of the state’s agricultural and mineral resources.

Founder of Welcome2Africa International, Bamidele Seun Owoola, said the mission was designed to move beyond broad investment discussions and focus on specific projects that could attract capital into the state.

“We are moving beyond general investment promotion into conversations about hectares, factories, processing plants, joint ventures, mining assets, offtake and market access,” Owoola said.

According to the state government, projects currently under consideration could generate more than $200 million in investments in the short to medium term. The potential investment pipeline could rise above $500 million if additional projects are successfully developed.

Among the opportunities presented to investors are large-scale maize and soybean farming, requiring between $2 million and $5 million in investment.

Certified seed production is another area identified, with estimated capital requirements ranging from $1 million to $3 million.

An integrated agro-industrial project is also being considered, with an estimated investment value of between $75 million and $150 million. The proposed venture would combine wet corn milling, starch production, animal feed manufacturing, poultry production and large-scale farming.

Other opportunities include a $25 million to $60 million maize and sesame agricultural project, as well as a $20 million partnership focused on cassava and maize processing.

The investment mission is expected to strengthen partnerships between Ekiti and Egyptian businesses while creating opportunities for value addition, industrialisation and employment within the state.
