The legal battle between the Twitter board of directors and the Chief Executive Officer of Tesla, Elon Musk, has taken a brand-new turn, as the billionaire is allegedly planning to file a countersuit against the social media company.
Judge Kathleen McCormick of the Delaware Court of Chancery, in the United States, is expected to hear the case on Tuesday when both parties dispute the schedule of their court case.
Elon’s decision to file a countersuit comes after disagreements between both parties on the date for the takeover trial to begin, with Twitter calling for the date to be fixed someday in September, while the businessman is opting for February.
The court case bordered on Musk pulling out of the $44 billion takeover deal he signed with the board. He had alleged the board’s breach of contract for the termination of the acquisition.
He said the board rejected giving him information regarding their bot accounts, which the investor explained was key to Twitter’s operation. Musk had hinted that the spam account was more than the 5% the management claimed, however, the board said they have offered him the information he requested based on the agreement.
