The Enugu State Government has just revealed that it will reopen just one lane of the Enugu- Portharcourt expressway bridge for travellers use by December 24.
Gerald Otiji, the State Commissioner for Works, disclosed this while talking to newsmen after the State Executive Council meeting at the Government House in Enugu on Friday.
Governor Peter Mbah had previously announced on November 9, that the Federal Government would begin the reconstruction work on the collapsed bridge.

He said the reconstruction would begin with lenitive work on the one lane of the bridge that was standing to make sure it would be ready for use within the next 10 days.
Otiji further told newsmen that the Artisan Cattle Market Bridge was being rebuilt by the Federal Ministry of Work in partnership with the Enugu State Ministry of Works.
In terms of water supply, the Commissioner encouraged Enugu residents to be patient with the government, promising that it would do everything possible to guarantee that water returned to their taps.
