Nollywood actor Gabriel Afolayan has expressed gratitude following his victory at the 11th Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA), where he won Best Supporting Actor for his role in Inside Life.
Celebrating the achievement, Afolayan took to Instagram to share the story of his acting journey, which began in 1990 under the mentorship of the late comic legend, Baba Sala. He revealed that his entry into acting came as a child during school breaks, and though he paused to focus on his education, he returned to the screen in 2000 and rose to fame five years later.
Recalling the years of dedication that led to this moment, he wrote:
“Got into the game since 1990 through Baba-Sala as a child actor. School breaks. Made a comeback in 2000. Fame kicked in 2005.“2005–2025. Madam Dearest – Inside Life. Fame before fortune (reward). Decades of consistent hard work. Omo olodun so pe purrr! Amvca11. Amvca2025. WINNER.”
Afolayan’s recognition at this year’s AMVCA adds to his long-standing legacy as one of Nigeria’s most talented and versatile actors.
