Former governor of Ekiti state Kayode Fayemi has rejected a request for a money laundering investigation from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
The invitation dated 12 May 2023, sent by the EFCC to Fayemi, stated that the Commission needed clarifications from Fayemi as part of its investigation.
The letter also revealed that Fayemi’s scheduled interview with the EFCC will take place on May 18, 2023.
However, Fayemi, who confirmed receipt of the committee’s letter through his legal representative, insisted he would not be available for an interview that day.
The former solid minerals minister said he will be involved in the launch and publication of two new books honoring President Muhammadu Buhari.
