A Historical Look at Beauty for the Olympic Athletes

Olympic athletes don’t only focus on honing and sharpening their bodies and minds for the big competition ahead of them, they also – like every other human, try their best to look good for the numerous cameras that will be focusing on them as they prove their mettle on the grand sports stage.

Florence Griffith-Joyner a.k.a Flo-Jo is reputed to be one of the first Olympic athletes to show off her personal style at the Games in 1988. She would flaunt unconventional long, colorful nails, don bold outfits and top it all off with bright, red lips.

Consequently in 1992, Suni Lee wowed her fans during her gymnastics performances by appearing with theatrical eyelashes and superb makeup.

Nowadays, athletes are more open when it comes to showing off their personal tastes in beauty. It is not out of place to see competitors apply makeup ranging from eyeliners, lipsticks or eyeshadows in their country’s colors as a symbol of patriotism.

What We Can Expect From This Collaboration

Rihanna’s brand partnering with the 2024 Paris Olympics and Paralympics is a great opportunity for Fenty Beauty. This is because it exposes it to a global audience. By supplying makeup kits and tutorials to the volunteers at the games, Fenty Beauty gets to sample its products to a wider audience than before, potentially boosting sales and increasing brand recognition.

Not only that, being associated with a celebrated event like the Olympics reinforces Fenty Beauty’s commitment to being an inclusive brand
