Fifa responded to the Uefa fight over Folarin Balogun’s red card ban, accusing them of using double standards and said their disciplinary actions in national leagues showed how they acted as it did not challenge the World Cup.
Fifa Disciplinary Committee president Mohammad Al-Kamali said: “It is important to note that the suspension handed out was not a reversal of the red card, but rather a suspension of the application of the one-match ban that was based on the relevant procedures of the Fifa Disciplinary Code.

He continued: Fifa’s disciplinary committee, said: “The FIFA Disciplinary Committee made its decision independently after analyzing the incident without being influenced by any member of the executive committee.
He also said the decision had been taken without outside influence by FIFA and not by pressure from FIFA president Gianni Infantino. He said: ” The FIFA disciplinary committee takes its own decisions independently on disciplinary issues and in light of the facts presented in each situation.
European governing body and Belgian football authorities were furious at the decision, with the Belgians reportedly set to challenge the decision at the court of arbitration sport (CAS) after the 18-year-old is available for the round of 16 matches.
The whole incident erupted last week when US president Donald Trump rang FIFA president Gianni Infantino to ask him to take a look into Balogun’s ban.
But Infantino insisted he had no part in any decision.
