Bolaji Olanrewaju, widely recognized as Big Bolaji in the Nigerian gospel music scene, has been laid to rest in Ibadan, Oyo State. The gospel artist passed away on April 19 after a short illness at the age of 50.
The funeral events began on Wednesday with a service and a lying-in-state held at the Hall of Grace, Jogor Centre, Ibadan. The ceremony attracted family, close friends, and a number of gospel musicians who gathered to honor his life and legacy.
Among those who attended were notable gospel artists such as Tosin Bee, Mike Abdul, Bidemi Olaoba, Yetunde Are, as well as the popular comedian Woli Agba.
Social media shared poignant moments as pallbearers carried his flower-covered coffin into the venue while attendees observed a moment of silence.
A tribute video celebrating Big Bolaji’s musical achievements and spiritual contributions was showcased during the service, drawing emotional reactions from those present.
After the service, the burial procession moved to All Souls Private Cemetery in Ido, Ibadan, where the late singer was finally laid to rest.
His wife, siblings, and family members stood in quiet contemplation as they bid farewell to the gospel icon.
