Gunmen Fatally Shoot 33 Persons in Burkina Faso

The Governor of Burkina-Faso had on Saturday, May 13 revealed that at least 33 people have been killed when gunmen began firing at vegetable farmers in a jihadist-hit region of Burkina Faso.

A state of emergency has since been enforced in eight of Burkina Faso’s 13 regions since March, including in western Boucle du Mouhoun.

According to Governor Babo Pierre Bassinga, the attack on farmers occurred on Thursday evening around 5:00 pm.

“The gunmen had targeted peaceful civilians who had been farming along the river,” Governor Bassinga had said.

The dead have since been buried on Friday, May 11.
