The main opposition, the Peoples Democratic Party, are making preparations to take Lagos State in 2023. They’re preparing to topple the state’s ruling All Progressives Congress, which has been in power for more than two decades.
The first stage was for the PDP to accept the Lagos4Lagos Movement from the APC. Adulazeez Adediran, nicknamed Jandor, and his supporters were welcomed into the PDP at an event held in Lagos. PDP chieftains, previous leaders, and PDP governors were all present at the ceremony. Joining up with the Lagos4Lagos Movement could be a prudent approach for the PDP in its fight against the APC.
Apart from that, PDP leaders appear to be highly interested in and committed to fighting the APC in order to win Lagos in 2023. This time around, the PDP, led by Senator Iyorchia Ayu and the rest of the party’s national officials who were present at the event, is focused on winning over Lagos. They stated that they are willing to collaborate with Jandor to help PDP win Lagos.
Furthermore, PDP governors, including Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike, Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde, Enugu State Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, Abia State Governor Okezie Ikpeazu, and others, are now interested in assisting the PDP in winning Lagos. They were also present for the occasion, and they stated their intention to assist the PDP win Lagos in 2023 when they spoke.
Thanks to this partnership, Jandor, Wike and the PDP governors have a method they can utilize when they want to win the state. This technique entails them collaborating and working together to help the party’s nominee win the election. They did so in Edo State, where they helped Governor Godwin Obaseki win re-election against all odds. Imagine all of the PDP Governors banding together to put their structures, ideas, time, and money behind their party’s candidate in a state with the goal of winning the election. That would be almost impossible to beat.
PDP governors, party leaders, and other third parties have never teamed up to support the party during an election before, as they are intending to do now in the Lagos governorship election. Wike and the other PDP governors are now fully engaged.
Ayu and the PDP’s national leaders are completely dedicated to making it happen. Former Senate President, Bukola Saraki, as well as other former PDP leaders, are enthusiastic about the accord. If the PDP can find a popular and influential candidate this time and maintain their momentum, they might be able to win Lagos in 2023.
