Nigerian dancer and former BBNaija contestant, Roseline Omokhoa Afije, widely known as Liquorose, has opened up about the emotional setback she faced before her eventual breakthrough on the reality TV show.
Speaking during a recent podcast conversation with VJ Adams, Liquorose revealed that she had been shortlisted for the 2020 edition of Big Brother Naija and was already prepared backstage for the launch.
However, despite being dressed and ready to step on stage, she was unexpectedly dropped at the last minute.

“In 2020, I was backstage at the BBNaija opening show. I was dressed up and make up done, but I was not called. That really hurt me,” she recounted.
The dancer disclosed that the disappointment left her deeply discouraged and almost derailed her dream of being on the show. At the time, both she and fellow housemate Jaypaul were prevented from taking part in the 2020 season after testing positive for COVID-19.
Despite the emotional blow, she eventually auditioned again in 2021—though reluctantly. According to her, she had no intention of trying a second time until a close friend persuaded her.
“That experience was messing with me. So, the following year, I didn’t even want to audition but my friend convinced me to try. I just auditioned and forgot about it. I just went to check my spam one day and I discovered that I have been selected. It was crazy,” she said.
Liquorose went on to become the runner-up of the 2021 Big Brother Naija season, where Whitemoney claimed the top prize.
