Dr Akinwumi Adesina, the President of the African Development Bank, AfDB, has announced his thanks after accepting his appointment by the United Nations in the fight against malnutrition.
Recall that on June 1, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres had selected Adesina and 21 other leaders to champion the fight against all forms of malnutrition as members of the Scaling Up Nutrition, SUN, Movement Lead Group.
The AfDB boss had been appointed together with two other Nigerians – the Vice President of the Islamic Development Bank, Mansur Muhtar, and the Executive Chair, Sahel Consulting Agriculture and Nutrition, Ndidi Nwuneli.
In a tweet post he shared on his official account on twitter on Sunday, June 4, Adesina had gushed his thanks to the UN, remarking that he was greatly honored by the appointment to be a key member in the fight to eradicate malnutrition globally.
His tweet read;
“I am greatly honored by United Nations Secretary-General @antonioguterres for appointing me among the Global Leaders to fight global malnutrition. Thank you, SG. I look forward to helping to deliver on this agenda,”
