George Akume, the newly appointed Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), expressed his commitment to President Bola Tinubu and the Nigerian people during his inauguration. President Tinubu administered the oath of office to Akume in the council chamber on Wednesday, in the presence of several government officials.
Following the ceremony, Akume spoke to State House correspondents and assured Nigerians that he would fulfill his duties in their best interest. He pledged not to let down the President, the country, or his political party.
“I want to assure Nigerians that I will give my utmost,” Akume affirmed. “I am determined not to disappoint President Tinubu, our great nation, and the party. I firmly believe that Nigerians will witness the fulfillment of their aspirations through my dedicated service. It is a privilege to serve our country, and with divine guidance, I am confident that Nigerians will truly enjoy the benefits of democracy.”
Previously, Akume served as the Minister of Special Duties and Inter-governmental Affairs during President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration.
