As fans of the Nigeria Professional Football League wait for the start of the new season of top-flight football in the country, the Interim Management Committee has committed to back up their words with action to elevate the league’s standard.
Davison Owumi, Chief Operating Officer of IMC, disclosed that the IMC has been trying to perfect the circumstances for reviving the league while facing questions following the money-spinner NPFL-DOZY Mmobuosi Super Cup pre-season competition in Lagos.
Owumi also hinted that the IMC will continue its fruitful collaboration with the Dozy Mmobuosi Foundation, but remained silent on the alleged N1 billion guarantee from an undisclosed bank ahead of the new season.
Ibrahim Gusau, President of the Nigeria Football Federation, who was also in Lagos for the grand finale of the pre-season competition, told the league body and the clubs that the NFF will provide them the necessary assistance to succeed.
He stated that the league will begin very soon, before the end of the year, and Nigerians will see what they will do. He assured Nigerians that he would do all possible to ensure that we have a league that everyone can be proud of.
