INEC Announces Nwoye as the Winner of Anambra North Senatorial Election

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has announced the senatorial candidate of the Labour Party for the Anambra North district, Dr. Tony Nwoye, as the winner of the February 25 senatorial election in the district.

The Senatorial results had been announced late on Friday, March 3 after the initial issues at the Ogbaru wards had been cleared.

Prof. Kingsley Ubaorji, a lecturer at Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, and the INEC Returning Officer for Anambra North had declared Nwoye the winner of the senatorial election at the Onitsha North Local Government Headquarters.

According to the results announced, Nwoye had scored 94,779 votes to defeat the incumbent Senator, Stella Oduah, a candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP who polled 50,146 votes.

In his brief remarks, Tony Nwoye thanked the indigenes of Anambra North for electing him as their senator and promised he will not disappoint the constituents.
