The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has revealed its plans to share election materials through the Lagos State Parks Management Committee, officially led by Musiliu Akinsanya (MC Oluomo), a Lagos APC chieftain.
This was made known by the INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner in Lagos State, Olusegun Agbaje, while fielding questions about the MC Oluomo-led committee’s engagement at the Inter-Agency Consultative Committee on Election Security, meeting at the INEC office on Tuesday, February 7, in Lagos.
Meanwhile, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), civil societies, and groups have rejected INEC’s planned collaboration with Oluomo, cautioning INEC to shelve the plan since Oluomo was partisan and an avid supporter of the Bola Tinubu, the APC presidential candidate.
But Agbaje, an INEC official had said, “There is currently a ban on the NURTW and RTEAN, therefore, we are only left with the Park Management system and NARTO (National Association of Road Transport Owners) and we are already working with the latter but it is not even able to meet up with 40 percent of our vehicle requirements for this election. So, the commission in Lagos is left with no option than to use the park management system.”
