The Independent National Electoral Commission, -INEC, will be publishing the voter register for the upcoming 2023 general election, sometime in January 2023.
This was revealed yesterday, Monday, September 26, at a two-day Capacity Building Workshop for the INEC Press Corps on critical issues in the Electoral Act, 2022, and the Commission’s Processes, Innovations, and Preparations for the 2023 General Election.
According to the electoral commission, publishing the voter register was in fulfillment of section 10 (6) of the Electoral Act 2022. The section read “as soon as claims and objections have expired, the supplementary list will be added to the revised register which shall be certified by the Commission as the official register of voters for any election conducted under this act and supersedes all previous registers.”
The electoral commission then added;
“In compliance with the above section, the Commission will certify the register of voters that will be used for the 2023 general election. The publication of the register of voters is proposed to hold in January 2023.”
