On Sunday, May 28, while speaking with newsmen, the Oyo State governor Makinde revealed that after submitting his asset declaration form at the Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB) office in Ibadan on Friday, May 26, he realised he had become poorer by 12 per cent.

Recall that in 2019, Makinde was revealed to be worth over N48 billion when he declared his assets.

But the governor hasn’t been forthcoming with the details of his assets at the start of his second term as he revealed that his assets would be made known to the public in due time.

In his words:

“You all are aware of my assets declaration for the first tenure. I can tell you that in the last four years, I’ve become poorer by 10 to 12 percent. This is because I have not really had the chance to look after my business.

We have been looking after Oyo state business; so, I’m not shocked that there were losses here and there, but I’m still okay.”

Makinde’s inauguration for his second term will take place at the Obafemi Awolowo Stadium, Oke-Ado, Ibadan, on Monday, May 29.
