Following his return from the meetings of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation in Thailand, John Lee, the leader of Hong Kong, underwent a COVID-19 test, the city administration reported on Monday.
Lee tested negative for the entire four days he was in Bangkok, but a government statement said his test was positive when he arrived in Hong Kong on Sunday night.
According to a Chief Executive’s Office official, Lee is currently in isolation and will work from home.
Lee had meetings with a number of leaders while traveling, including Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong and Indonesian President Joko Widodo. He was seated next to Chinese President Xi Jinping in certain closed-door meetings.
