No less than four passengers have been kidnapped along Irele Ekiti-Oke Ako Highway in the Ajani Local Council Development Area of Ekiti State by armed men.
The victims, who had been returning to Ibadan, Oyo State, on Sunday, October 31 after attending an event in Kogi State, when they were ambushed by a gang of armed men who forced them into the forest.
The State Commander of Amotekun Corps, retired Brig Gen. Joe Komolafe, has confirmed the incident, stating that police operative had already set to work, combing the forest area in search of the captives.
Meanwhile, a community leader in Irele-Ekiti, Kehinde Abejide, who had spoken to news reporters, shortly after the incident had cried out, saying that the attacks had become incessant.
“There is the need for a military post between Irele and Oke Ako to forestall attacks by these gunmen”, he had told the news reporters.
