After a spectacular show at the opening ceremony at the recently concluded Paris Olympic Games, the American pop diva Stefani Germanotta aka Lady Gaga was delighted to have taken part in the event. Gaga amused the viewers with her performance dancing to the French cabaret song “Mon Truc en Plumes” originally by Zizi Jeanmaire while she performed it near the Eiffel Tower.
Lady Gaga, explained in a statement posted through V that she and her team worked hard in setting out for this kind of performance. She was overwhelmed, she made sure to convey her heartfelt appreciation to the France people stating that this was a blessing that she would treasure always.
She was happy to have been given an opportunity to perform at the opening ceremony of the Paris 2024 Olympics as well as conveying her honor of being entrusted the honor of singing an important French song which honors the French culture in art, music and theatrical performance.
She also remarked on the distinct affinity she has for France, even if she is not French, and mentioned her prior history with Zizi Jeanmaire for Cole Porter’s musical called “Anything Goes” which was her first jazz record.
She continued detailing the preparation she underwent for the show; she had to order pom-poms from the Le Lido archive, work with Dior to come up with costumes made from natural shed feathers, and choreograph a French twist to the rendition. Gaga also recalled how the choreography involved practicing the French party dance to the point of exhaustion, An reference to her past as a dance parties for French connection in New York in the 60s.
Lady Gaga thanked everyone in French ending her speech and said that she would never forget this unique experience of showing her kindness and welcoming her.
