Manchester United has ensured Kobbie Mainoo’s long-term future after they announced the young midfielder has agreed to a new contract that will see him at the club until 2031.

His previous contract was going to end in 2027, but following his increased significance in the team, the club decided to extend the youngster’s tenure. In fact, Mainoo has already played 98 games for United, including netting the winning goal in their FA Cup final success in the 2023-24 season.

Besides that, after going through a tough time earlier this season with Ruben Amorim, Mainoo has been performing well since Michael Carrick took over as interim manager. Currently, he has played 12 of the last 13 Premier League matches of the club and has become an essential midfielder.

In fact, during those matches, only Bruno Fernandes and Casemiro have spent more time on the pitch than Mainoo, who has also been outstanding with his passing and defensive work, highlighting his complete growth.

Referring to the deal, Mainoo called United his “home” and said that he wanted to assist the club in reaching a level where they are contending for the biggest trophies.

This new agreement shows United’s intention to continue relying on their young players as the team is looking forward to a period of sustained success.
