Manchester City senior players have offered to pay back the ticket costs to fans who went to Norway to see their shocking Champions League defeat to Bodo/Glimt on Tuesday night.
Guardiola’s team were completely unprepared in the Arctic Circle as Kasper Høgh scored twice in three minutes of the first half, and the ex-City man Jens Petter Hauge completed the Norwegian champions’ own historic night with a magnificent curling shot. City managed to get a goal through Rayan Cherki, but Rodri received his marching orders and was sent off, making a comeback impossible for the Manchester Club.

City are now in danger of not finishing in the top 8 of the Champions league that will guarantee an automatic qualification into the next round of the Champions League, after an embarrassing defeat to a team from the 48th-ranked league ranked in Europe. Bodo/Glimt’s win was also historic as they became the first side to secure their first UCL win against an English side since Istanbul Basaksehir defeated Manchester United in November 2020.
City’s leadership of Bernardo Silva, along with vice-captains Rúben Dias, Rodri, and Erling Haaland, have come together and decided to compensate the fans who travelled despite the disappointing outcome.
“The fans are our everything,” the printed statement said. “We recognize the sacrifices our fans make when they travel all the way to support us, especially at times when conditions are not really favorable. Paying back the money for those who took the trip to Bodo is the minimum we can do.”
The players also asked for forgiveness for their technology and thanked the fans for agreeing to freeze during the game.
Now City must concentrate on their domestic and European games as they face the Premier League’s last-positioned team, Wolves, on Saturday and Galatasaray at the Etihad Stadium midweek. Pep’s boys will want to put things right as they have beaten teams in the 20th position in their last nine league games by a combined score of 36–0.
