Andy Stone is suing the “All I Want for Christmas is You” popular songstress, Mariah Carey. The famous 1994 Christmas classic has been said to be co-written by Mr. Stone 5 years before with the same title. The complaint was filed at the New Orleans federal court and the prosecutor, Mr. Stone is seeking 20 million dollars at least from the record label: Sony Music Entertainment and Mariah Carey, who was also a co-writer for the song, claiming misappropriation among different grievances.
Mr. Stone’s Lawyers made contact with the defendants about the ‘unauthorized use’ of the song, “All I Want for Christmas is You” in April of 2021 but were sadly ‘unable to agree’. It has however been stated that Mariah Carey and Andy stone’s songs both have exclusive melodies and lyrics. The song has appeared on Mariah’s album Merry Christmas which has been a massive hit because of its launch and had obtained enormous play at some stage in the Christmas season.
