Horatius Egua, a media aide to the Minister of State Petroleum Resources, Timipre Sylva, has tendered an apology to Nigerians and industry operators over a media publication error.
Egua had on Monday, February 20, released a statement titled “Theft, Pipeline Vandalism Responsible for Volumes of Crude Losses” which had been credited to the minister saying that the statement was a working draft that should never have been released to the media for publication as it did not get the clearance of the Minister.
Egua stated in the apology, “The statement was not released to denigrate the reputation of the head of any agency or government official or to dispute the figures released by the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission. The statement was released in error.”
“I apologize for any discomfort or inconveniences the release may have caused by it release,” Egua said.
